Our Philosophy

We believe that good web site and graphic design should focus primarily on usability. This means quality designed web sites using the latest web compliant standards, that are not only simple to use, but also easy to navigate, and that help the end user to find relevent information and products quickly and effortlessly.

The web has become a sophisticated tool for information, marketing, promotion and research, Web design must support your message, not overwhelm it. Therefore, web design must be done with a sense of restraint.

Visual toys and gimmiks such as animation and sound must be used only when the content or product warrants it, not simply as useless decoration. Otherwise you run the risk of giving your audience a complete sensory overload.

Not all web sites are vast spaces with an overwhelming array of information and links. Many websites can range from nothing more than an online electronic business card, with a company's policies, practices, services and contact information on the web for people to find, to well, what ever the imagination can think up. A small website can still be an effective marketing tool with quality design.

Why must web design face up to a new reality?

Because many of the promises made concerning the Web have not been fulfilled, for example, high-speed broadband connections such as ADSL have not been taken up by most people.

If you want your web site to be viewed by the widest possible audience, the speed limitations of dial-up connections, different viewing platforms, cross browser compatibility and accessibility issues must play a huge factor in the design process.

Also, the Web is not television. It is currently an information resource for most users , not an entertainment medium. Therefore, web design must make information easily accesible. That is its core responsibility. Simplicity, ease of use and clear navigation are powerful web design tools that enhance the customer experience, and your bottom line as a business owner. Remember a prospective customer is only one click away from leaving your site!

Try to avoid the latest gimmiks that quickly go out of fashion and focus on what matters most to the customer. Anything that hinders your ability to communicate clearly to your customer should be left out. That is what good web design is all about.

So, what makes good web design?

We have often asked ourselves this question and have come up with a few basic conclusions. See if you agree?

We think all graphic and web design is really about communication above everything else, good web design should be clear, simple, and easy to navigate. It should never get in the way of the service or product it is trying to promote by drawing too much attention to itself. It has to support the service or product of the client

Web design can be, and often is, overdone. When that happens, it becomes like the hilarious commercial you saw on television during the football game. It still brings a smile to your face, but you can never remember what product it is advertising. Web design is best when it helps people to remember the service or product it supports, and not itself. Therefore, good web design often shows restraint and clarity

In short, I find when developing a website to alway's try to remember to KIS...that is to...

Keep It Simple!
